United States Babylon The Great?

Is the United States Babylon the Great of Bible prophecies? Yes, I think it is. Jack Van Impe had a recording coming to this conclusion many years ago. We're talking about Jeremiah chapters 50 and 51 and Revelation chapters 17 and 18 here. One thing this Babylon is described as a "mingled people." The United States of America today is very much a nation of a variety of peoples: white, Jewish, black, Oriental, Latino, etc. This country is "the hammer of the whole earth." Perhaps a great military or industrial power? The United States is both. 

This nation "mounts up to the heavens as an eagle." Well, the eagle is the symbol of the US and the US is also known for it's space program. This land "sits on many water." Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, Great Lakes, Mississippi River. Not the case with the Vatican, New York City, the historic city of Babylon or other competing theories. "All nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication." Revelation 18:3. Many nations have been recipients of the wrath of the United States in recent years. Numerous countries are being and have been sanctioned; wars in Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Iraq, Vietnam, Korea, etc. 

We know historic Babylon was the world's leading power in it's day, much as the United States is today. It was an empire, as many people describe the United States today. But it fell overnight in a surprise attack by an alliance of Medes and Persians. Could an alliance of Russia and China be the modern day Medes and Persians? If you remember the Bible story God wrote the "handwriting on the wall" while the Babylonian leaders were having a wild party. Daniel finally interpreted the message as "You have been weighed in the balances and found wanting." Is this what has happened to the United States?

What does God think of the US Supreme Court basically going along with same sex marriages (described as the "devil's work" by Pope Francis a couple years before he became pope, and 15 of the 50 states now legalizing gay marriages? Our present president, Barack Obama, who claims to be a Christian but may really be a 33rd degree Prince Hall Mason and occultist, is all for gay marriage. We know God judged Sodom and Gomorrha for homosexuality, pride, and not helping the poor and needy. That sounds just like the United States in recent years. 

God judged ancient Babylon, but used the Medes and Persians (Russians and Chinese?) as his instruments. The Bible says this modern Babylon will be burned up in one hour. Revelation 18:17. This could happen to the United States in a first strike nuclear attack by Russia and China. "Russia is the only country in the world realistically capable of turning the United States into radioactive ash," anchor Dmitry Kiselyov said recently on state run Russian television.
